TNT to Earth's Core Progression Guide: the Unlock Ladder, Layers & Rebirths

How progression actually works in TNT to Earth's Core!: the 27-TNT unlock ladder, the nine-layer descent with official player counters, and when a rebirth makes sense.

Quick answer: two ladders and a reset button

Progression runs on two official ladders. The TNT ladder is 27 unlocks long — Dirt through Singularity — and each rung makes deeper layers practical. The layer ladder is the map: nine named layers from basic stone to Starcore, then the Lava core. The official badge counters show exactly where the player base thins out on both, which turns "what should I do next" into a data question instead of a guess. The third system — rebirths, live in the game's title since early October 2026 — resets the loop for a permanent gain, and it is the one progression decision the game makes you take on faith, because nothing about it is documented.

Stage plan

Four progression stages, from the counters

Where you sit on the table decides your next move.

  1. Stage 1 · Layers 1–3

    Ride the free rungs

The first three layers hold most of the player base (738K → 95K). Unlock every TNT the screen offers — the early rungs are the game teaching you the loop. Measure clearance per blast once per layer; it falls as rock hardens from stone to andesite.

  2. Stage 2 · Layers 3–5

Break the first wall at tuff

The official counter halves between andesite and tuff — the first real gate. Plan it: with your measured clearance and the calculator, budget the TNT for the tuff and basalt stretch before you enter it, and do not enter on zero reserve.

  3. Stage 3 · Layers 5–7

    Deepslate and the old endgame

From Deepslate down you are in the top ~11% of players (35,715 reached Layer 6). Unlocks slow; ores found here are your rarest. Layer 7 was the game's bottom until October 1 — its badge still reads like an ending, but the map now continues past it.

  4. Stage 4 · Layers 8–9 + core

Voidstone, Starcore, and the Lava core

The October 1 update's endgame. 28,109 players reached Voidstone, 24,872 Starcore, and 35,576 held the core's Reach Lava badge — the core is genuinely reachable, and the TNT ladder now extends to Singularity for the players still descending.

The reset decision

Rebirths: what is known and how to decide

Known: the system exists. Unknown: everything else — so decide from the screen, not from forums.

What is official

The live title read "TNT to Earth's Core! [Rebirths!]" at the 2026-10-03 check; the August 25 snapshot had no suffix. The system arrived with the late-September/early-October update wave — the updates page has the dated timeline.

What is not published

Rebirth cost, what resets, and what permanent gain you keep. Until the creator documents them, the in-game rebirth screen is the only source that applies to your account.

The sane default

Reach Stage 3 first. A reset that costs your Deepslate+ position before your TNT ladder is deep should need an enormous promised multiplier to be worth it — read the screen, do the comparison, then decide.

Recovery

If progression stalls

Three stalls, three fixes.

Blasts stop clearing depth

You hit a harder layer. Go one TNT rung up before pushing on — the ladder exists for exactly this wall.

Unlock requirements look impossible

They are depth- and ore-driven per the loop. Farm a session at your deepest comfortable layer (farming guide) and come back.

FAQ

Progression questions

What should I upgrade first in TNT to Earth's Core?

The next rung of the TNT ladder, always — progression here is linear by design. The official counters show the pacing: Dirt TNT to the first few rungs are near-automatic (536K and 256K players), but by Steel TNT only 8,977 players remain, so expect requirements to steepen sharply after the first six to eight unlocks.

How do I progress past Layer 3–4?

With a stronger TNT, not persistence. 95,917 players reached andesite (Layer 3) but only 57,260 reached tuff (Layer 4) at the checked date — the largest single drop-off in the official milestone table. If your blasts stop clearing depth, the intended answer is the unlock screen, not more blasts with the same explosive.

When should I rebirth?

The game advertises rebirths in its live title but publishes nothing about cost, reset scope, or multipliers. The general simulator rule applies: reset only when the rebirth screen's permanent gain clearly outweighs the depth and unlocks you give up. Treat any shared rebirth guide number as belonging to a different game until you see it in yours.

What is the endgame?

Layers 8–9 (Voidstone, Starcore), the Lava core, and the bottom of the TNT ladder — which the October 1, 2026 update pushed from Blackhole TNT to Singularity TNT by adding Sun, Cheese, Fire, Pancake, Cake, and Singularity. At the October 3 check, 24,872 players had reached Starcore and none had unlocked Singularity TNT.
